Letter from Director
Dear fellow water stewards, partners and friends,
Sometimes it’s hard to see how each of us can make a difference in the world. With problems hitting us from many directions, the world can be overwhelming. Especially as a kid, I felt helpless in solving all of the world’s problems.
In the last 20 years of my life, I’ve met passionate, persistent and dedicated people who are making a difference in the world. These people have identified a problem and made a conscience choice to do something about it. As human beings, we have the capability every single day to do something to care; we just have to take that first step.
For me, that first step was water. Water connects every single thing on earth. It brings life to the world, it brings beauty to some and, it is extremely vulnerable to the pressures of people, politics, industry, climate change and development. This is where we all come in.
At DLDT, we look forward to working with you to ensure our water is clean and available to everyone. There is no reason we should live in a world where a child under 6 dies every 20 seconds due to unsafe water. There is no reason plastic beaches should be forming on our coasts. There is no reason over half of the hospital beds on earth are filled with people who are sick from dirty water. There is no reason water should be being pulled from our lakes and aquifers at unsustainable rates. There is no new water.
Let’s all work together to take care of what we have and help increase opportunity for those of us who don’t. Volunteer, get educated, donate or become part of our team. Our world water needs all of us.
Water is life~
