Irimba Primary School (Clean Water)

Project Location: Kimole Village, Nakasongola, Uganda

Project Completed: December 2017

People Served: 434 (Clean Water)

The Problem

Irimba Primary School is far from any clean source of water. Students walk for hours collecting dirty water from swamps. They miss school and no water is able to be saved for handwashing. When DLDT first interviewed Irimba, parents and teachers were almost to tears eagar to get clean water for their kids. As a bandaid and sign of ‘community ownership’, DLDT shared the cost of two large clay water filters so they could – at least- filter water for cooking and drinking as we waited to get their projects planned, funded and implemented.

The Solution

Deep-borehole (hand-washing station and latrines for boys listed on another project).  A special iron removal filter needed to be constructed.

The lives we change at Drink Local. Drink Tap. need you now more than ever.

As we continue to fight the spread of COVID-19, take a moment to consider how you and your family would be impacted if you didn’t have access to safe water. With your help, 3,000 children will have a clean water system at school where there has been no water at all. We need your support.
