World Water Day 2017 Recap
Another Successful World Water Day with our Wavemakers!
We hope you are aware that last Wednesday, March 22nd, was World Water Day! This year’s theme was Wastewater. For the seventh year, Drink Local. Drink Tap., Inc. rallied almost 300 Wavemakers to celebrate World Water Day with a variety of activities. We held the event in partnership with the Greater Cleveland Aquarium and Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District.
Four Northeast Ohio schools attended with their decorated gallon jug water bottles and World Water Day posters to raise awareness about the stress being put on the world’s water. The ”best” bottles and posters were awarded a prize for their efforts. In addition, students submitted short essays about the importance of being a good steward of water, which they read aloud to the group. Additional fun came in the form of a tour of the aquarium, a quiz show about water and wastewater facts, and a visit from NEORSD’s Wally Waterdrop and the GCA’s Captain NEO! The Wavemaker Program is an integral part of Drink Local. Drink Tap’s mission to educate people (especially school-aged children) about the importance of being good stewards of the world’s water now and for the rest of their lives.
