Katie’s Run4Water

She’s rowed for it, she’s cycled for it, and she’s swum for it. Now, she’ll run for it. Endurance athlete, world-record holder, and Official DLDT Clean Water Ambassador, Katie Spotz, has gone on adventures far and wide, setting the record as the youngest person ever to row an ocean solo, among other adventures. Throughout her adventures, Katie wasn’t just seeking to make history. She was also raising money for safe drinking water projects around the world including our work in Uganda.

We are thrilled to partner with ordinary people doing extraordinary things. This September, Katie will embark on her latest challenge, bringing that sense of adventure home by running all across her home state of Ohio. Her run will begin at the Ohio River in Cincinnati and finish at the shores of Lake Erie in Cleveland. Katie will run one marathon a day for 10 days straight, crossing 12 total counties and covering 420,000 total steps!

Each step Katie makes will be one step closer to a world where every person has access to clean water. The goal for Run4Water is to raise $26,000 for a Drink Local Drink Tap project in Uganda at Namatala and Museveni Primary Schools. It will serve 3,000 students and staff!

Help us reach our goal by:
1. Donating online and your donation will be matched 100% by Axel Johnson Inc.
2. Logging miles run, walked, or hiked on ChallengeHound (manually or links to Strava). $1 was donated to DLDT on your behalf by Axel Johnson Inc.! YOU DID IT! We raised 5,000 miles, so $5,000! We’ll keep you posted on more miles opportunities as we seek out our next matching partnership.
